This is shallow reason to cutting and there was 0 reason for thinking of being a hindrance. He wasn't even sure if he loves akihiko, he didn't bother anyone and nobody told him that he bothered anyone, so the reasons for this kind of plot are completely biased. 
If anything - he would need to have flashback of being forgotten behind - Saga and Akihiko, the initial pain of being left by saga would be good reason for such act in this story, being a hindrance makes no sense, also as he started out a strong person helping yokozawa, his character changes without any grounds for a change, also yokozawa disappears all at once. story is rushed and details are not up to the plot.

I personally think Akihiko and Ritsu are great couple - for drama, as long as it ends in canon ship. :D
Especially later - writer/editor - love for literature, they fit quite nicely. And since I gotta say, I highly dislike Misaki character :( I am sorry for all misaki fans, it's personal opinion. :/
but as long as there is play between akihiko/ritsu,  even yokozawa/takano,.. as drama, if it ends in original couple after all the plots i see no problem with it.

Jajaja suele pasar. Aunque no es que sean zorras xD Es por la misma razón que dices, están enamorados pero no creen que el otro lo está y por eso se lo reservan xD.

Bueno, pero lo de Ritsu ya es tema aparte. Si notas, él está muy devastado por la ruptura que tuvo con Usagi-san. Por eso no confía del todo en Takano, porque no quiere revivir ese temor de ser abandonado.

Y no te preocupes por lo otro ;) Termina primero lo que tengas que hacer ^^
